Storybook Duplo for ages 3 to 5
and Storybook Lego for grades K-1
Think outside the box and return to the days when Legos didn’t come in kits, and all the instructions came out of kids’ heads. Our Storybook Duplo class is an excellent marriage of storytelling and literacy with the world of engineering!
The instructor will read a story at the beginning of each class session, then help the kids build Duplo characters and scenes from the story. (Duplo blocks are the perfect size for little hands!) We’ll make dinosaurs, giraffes and more! If your child can imagine it, s/he can make it!
Our Storybook Lego class follows the same format as Storybook Duplo, with two exceptions. We’ll use different stories and regular-sized Lego bricks!
What is STEAM?
Perhaps you’ve heard of STEAM. It is STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) + Arts. Here at The Great Adventure Lab we have several STEAM classes including Storybook Science for K-1, Video Game Programming for grades 3 to 5, 3-D design (in pilot for grades 4-5) and now, Storybook Lego and Duplo!
All of these classes place storytelling and design at the center of our engineering and/or programming. Kids love stories. In our classes, it’s a short step from there to loving science, technology and engineering!
You can read more about STEAM here.
